What you'll need
  • Your phone
  • Your Apple Account or Google account
  1. iPhone or iPad: open Find My settings

Open Settings, tap your name, then Find My, then Find My iPhone.

  2. iPhone or iPad: turn on all three

Turn on Find My iPhone, Find My network (lets it be found even when offline) and Send Last Location (sends its location when the battery is very low).

  3. Android: open Find Hub settings

Google renamed Find My Device to Find Hub in 2025. Open Settings > Security & privacy (or Settings > Google > All services) and tap Find Hub. Make sure it's on and Location is on. Menu names vary by phone maker and software version. These steps were checked against official help pages in October 2026; if you don't see a label, search for it in your phone's Settings.

  4. Test it

On a computer, go to icloud.com/find (Apple) or google.com/android/find (Android), sign in, and check that your phone appears on the map. Samsung phones can also use Samsung's own SmartThings Find.

  5. If a phone goes missing

Sign in from another device and use Play Sound, Lost Mode / Secure device to lock it and show a contact number, or Erase as a last resort.

⚠️ Careful: if you think a phone was stolen, don't try to get it back yourself. Contact the police and your carrier.
