What you'll need
  • A Mac, Windows or Linux computer, or an iPhone, iPad or Android phone
  • An eligible plan (Grok Bot is included with some SuperGrok and Cursor plans; check the official site for what's included today)
  • A small, real first task in mind
  1. Know what an AI assistant bot is

A chatbot answers questions. An assistant bot like Grok Bot can also do tasks for you: it works on its own cloud computer, can use apps you connect, and can keep working while you're away. It remembers context, so you can come back later and pick up where you left off.

  2. Get the official app

On a computer, go to x.ai/bot and download it. On a phone, use the App Store (iPhone, iPad) or Google Play (Android) and search for Grok Bot. Only download from these official places.

  3. Sign in

Open the app. The sign-in page offers Sign in with Grok, Sign in with Cursor or Create an account. Pick the one that matches the account with your plan.

💡 Plans change. We don't list prices here. Check the official x.ai/bot page for current plans and what's included.
  4. Create and name your first bot

Follow the on-screen setup to create your first bot. You give it a name and a title (for example “Home helper”). You can change them later: click the bot's name at the top of the chat, then the gear, to open that bot's settings.

  5. Connect email or calendar, only if you want to

You don't have to connect anything to start. If you'd like your bot to read your calendar or help with email, choose Connect apps in the sidebar, pick the app and sign in on the provider's own page. A bot will also show a card asking you to connect an app when a task needs one.

  6. Ask for a first task

Type the result you want in plain English and send it. Good first tasks are small and clear:

    • “Find three highly rated Italian restaurants near me open Saturday night.”
    • “Make a packing list for a 4-day beach trip.”

Send another message any time to change direction or stop.

  7. Set up a routine

A routine is a job your bot does on a schedule. Just ask: “Every weekday at 7am, send me a short briefing with my calendar and the weather.” The bot sets it up, and you can see its routines in the bot's info pane (open it by clicking the bot's name at the top of the chat).

  8. Stay safe

Your bot asks before it does anything important. When you see an approval card, read it, then choose to allow it or not. Ask it to draft emails and messages for you to check before anything is sent.

🔒 Never paste passwords or codes into the chat. When a website needs you to sign in, the bot hands the screen to you so you can type it yourself.
🎉 All done!
